  • Uttar Pradesh: Leads in wheat production, followed by Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh. Also a major producer of bajra, rice, sugarcane, and food grains ¹.
  • Punjab: Significant producer of wheat, rice, and cotton.
  • Haryana: Major producer of wheat, rice, and cotton.

Crop-Wise Production Statistics

  • Rice: West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are the top rice-producing states ¹.
  • Wheat: Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Gujarat are the major wheat-producing states ¹.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the most up-to-date statistics on the number of farmers in each state. However, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare provides annual reports on agricultural statistics, which may include state-wise farmer data ².
