Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, and Yoga are six major traditional health systems in India. Each has its own philosophy of health and treatment, with unique principles and practices for maintaining physical and mental well-being.

Ayurveda Ayurveda is an ancient Indian holistic medical system that views health as the balance of three body energies (doshas: Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and five universal elements (Pancha Mahabhoota: air, water, space, earth, fire). It emphasizes personalized treatment, herbal remedies, diet, massage, cleansing, and spiritual practices to prevent and heal disease.

Siddha Siddha is a traditional South Indian system that focuses on the use of herbs, minerals, and metals, aiming to balance the three humors (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Siddha emphasizes holistic health, lifestyle management, and spiritual attainment, and categorizes diseases into those affecting the body, mind, and spirit.

Unani Unani medicine originates from Greek and Arab traditions, adapted in India. It is based on balancing four humours (blood, phlegm, yellow bile, black bile) and incorporates herbal medicines, diet, and therapies to restore equilibrium within the body.

Homeopathy Homeopathy is based on the principle of “like cures like,” using highly diluted substances to trigger the body’s natural healing responses. Remedies are chosen based on a person’s symptoms, personality, and individual constitution.

Naturopathy Naturopathy promotes healing through natural means: diet, exercise, hydrotherapy, physical therapies, and other non-invasive methods. It aims to restore and maintain optimal health by supporting the body’s intrinsic self-healing capability.

Yoga Yoga is both a physical and spiritual discipline, involving postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, and ethical practices. It focuses on achieving harmony of body, mind, and spirit to promote overall well-being.

Each system offers a distinct approach to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, reflecting India’s rich medical traditions and diversity.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
