Ramadan sales tend to go up for both Muslims and non-Muslims, but for different reasons:

For Muslims:

  • Increased spending on food & groceries: Families prepare special meals for Suhoor and Iftar, leading to higher grocery sales.
  • Clothing & gifts: Many buy new clothes and gifts for Eid celebrations.
  • Religious items: Sales of Qurans, prayer mats, dates, and charity donations (Zakat) increase.

For Non-Muslims:

  • Retail promotions: Many brands offer Ramadan discounts, attracting all shoppers.
  • Hospitality & tourism: Non-Muslims also enjoy Iftar buffets, Ramadan deals in hotels, and seasonal shopping.
  • Gifting culture: Many companies and individuals give Ramadan/Eid gifts to Muslim colleagues, clients, and friends.

So, while Ramadan is a special time for Muslims, businesses often see a general rise in sales from all customers.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
